This summer, I've been incredibly lucky to live and work in charming and picturesque Lancaster, PA. A true feast for the senses, Pennsylvania has to be one of the most lush and green locals I've ever visited, thanks to it's frequent sporadic and torrential downpours. It also has the best produce I've ever tasted, thanks to the Mennonite and Amish farmer's markets full of veggies and fruits picked right from the ground or off the vine that morning. Talk about totally opposite from New York City!
Mary Poppins opened in late June to nothing but FANTASTIC reviews to all our delight. I feel humbled and thankful for the honorable mentions from LancasterOnline calling me 'Hilariously terrifying' andBroadwayWorld simply stating I am 'The Nanny from Hell!'.
While Mary Poppins is certainly a MASSIVE show with it's intricate set and spectacle elements, i.e. flying, magic, etc., from the very first day of rehearsal I have been in awe of my cast mates never ending energy and positivity! While we all may get anxious or frustrated with something going wrong here and there, overall the vibe coming in to work is one of extreme fun and optimism. There are only a handful of other shows I've been a part of where I've had as much FUN on stage as I have this one.
I have two and a half more weeks out here in Amish land and I'm trying to stay as present as possible, as I know this is one I will really miss. Here are a few photos of what life has been like this summer.
